The great, FREE, lunchtime in Millennium Park concert series has been announced here. Can't say this lineup is as good as last year, but there are a few gems. I'm especially geeked for my personal favorite band High Places. It'll be super interesting to see how they translate in a vast open space.

15 Second Record Review - Beast Rest Forth Mouth by Bear in Heaven
Bear in Heaven's sophomore effort is a surprising masterpiece, only hinted at by the well-traveled single "You Do You," somehow combining of-the-moment effusive indie synth and heavy-ish prog rock. It's kind of like taking the progressiveness from Midlake, leaving behind the forest folk elements, and layering it atop the parts of MGMT that work (not the hippie pop shit). I never really gave this band much thought until I saw them open for Cymbals Eat Guitars last month and totally blew me away. Vocalist Jon Philpot manages to go from earnest pseudo-falsetto to raging rocker voice often within the same song, which is pretty impressive. Then again, so is this whole album. It's sometimes plodding, sometimes groove based, other times aggressive, and always very pretty. It's just one damn good record. A
This Weekend In Shows (TWIS) & New Shows
New stuff added to the SHOWcal including Jose Gonzalez's new band, and the lineup for this summer's Do Division Street Festival which has some good bands, like Yacht, Hood Internet, Headlights, Pelican, and more. Plus, some other stuff which I'm too lazy to post here.
And here's what's going on this weekend and next week. Some nice stuff, which would be good to go to since the forecast calls for non-stop rain. Blech.

This Weekend In Shows (TWIS) & New Shows
A few new shows added to the SHOWcal, but nothing of much importance. But, there's a bunch of stuff going on in our fair city this weekend and next week. A lot of them are already sold out, so hopefully you've been keeping up with the list and bought your tix months ago!
