SHOWcal and iCloud

As you might have heard, Apple launched iCloud last week. I'm slowly migrating showcowgo.com to a new (less shitty) platform, but in the meantime there's some iCloud-related changes afoot with the SHOWcal. You can still subscribe via iCal, view on the website, and subscribe via Google calendars and I'm hoping to keep it that way. However, iCloud is currently forbidding Google from auto-indexing iCloud calendars and I can't find anything to suggest when Apple will fix this. As a result, since SHOWcal is simply my embedded Google calendar, it is not going to reflect the most recent changes. Until Apple fixes this or I figure out a work-around, the only way to make sure you have the most recent calendar is to subscribe to my iCloud feed here, which will sync your iCal-supported client/application with any changes. I'll update in a new post if/when there are any new developments.

SHOWcal on Google Calendar

For the last 2+ years, this lame blog has been automatically updating our SHOWcal concert calendar via Apple's Mobile Me suite, which won't be around much longer. I haven't really spent any time trying to figure out how the impending move to iCloud will affect things around here, so in the meantime I've set up a dummy repeater at Google Calendars (which you might prefer anyway). I'll eventually get around to changing the pointer on showcowgo.com, but for now you can link to it here and subscribe via your favorite calendar program here. I'll also throw a link on the permanent SHOWblog page. WOOT

I Fucked Up (also, new shows. Snoop Dogg at Metro?!?)

I accidently deleted 648 show listings from SHOWcal, most of them old, but lots of them new and upcoming. Sorry. But, all's good now. I've added back all that I could find. As an extra bonus, there's quite a lot of new announcements this week. Which you should pay attention to, because some of these will sell out ultra-quick. Like Snoop Dogg at the Metro (?!) and a second early XX show at Lincoln Hall. So go check out the SHOWcal and buy some damn tickets.

New Shows - Happy Holidays!

New shows up at the SHOWcal which isn't going to be updated again 'til the new year, because 1) I'm lazy and 2) there aren't going to be any announcements during the holidays.

Still looking for NYE plans? Supposedly the NYE shows aren't selling out, and in most cases, the venues will probably have to start discounting the absurdly overpriced tickets.  I have all the better NYE shows posted in SHOWcal. That is except for one, which is by far the best: Polkaholics at the DANK Haus ballroom for only $5! If I was looking for something to do on NYE (which I'm not, because NYE is stupid), I wouldn't look any farther than that. In fact, I might just wind up going for shits. Punk-Polka!

Lincoln Hall = Tons of New Shows!

Well well well! Chicago's newest music venue has just opened and is starting to book some shows. Some ass-kickingly kick-ass shows! Brothers Schuba of Schuba's fame just took the wraps off their lengthy remodel of the Three Penny Cinema, and changed its name to Lincoln Hall. To celebrate, they've booked a whole host of amazing indie acts. This is typically a busy period for live music in the city, these few months between the end of summer festival season and the holidays, and it's pretty exciting to have a new mid-size venue committed to booking great artists. So, best wishes to Lincoln Hall, and I can't wait to check it out. Speaking of holidays, the craptacular wallet-rape that is NYE isn't far off, and already a few big shows have been announced. Check out all of Lincoln Hall's coming shows, the continuously updated show calendar, and what's coming round for New Years over at SHOWcal .

SHOWcal - New Shows!

The summer concert festival routine is done, which blows, but that only means that more and better concerts are coming to Chicago. It also means that fall will soon be here, which is the best season of all. Don't forget to check in frequently to SHOWcal (or just subscribe to it - it's shared!), as I update it quite often. Lots of cool shit is coming to town!
